Le duo !What the Folk ? existe depuis 2009. Après plus de 250 concerts dans l’hexagone et une tournée de 3 semaines aux Etas Unis en 2011, un 1er album « Living Roots » très bien accueilli par la presse française (Rock&Folk notamment, Blues&Co) et la presse étrangère (Daily Tribune de Detroit), le duo a ensuite enregistréun 2ème album « Wide Open » sorti en juin 2013.

Pourquoi ce terme assez vaste, la réponse est dans leur dernier album « Wide Open ». Tout au long de cet album, on passe d’un morceau country, à un gospel, puis on enchaine avec un bon vieux blues et un morceau bluegrass, ce sont tous ces styles qui tracent et retracent l’histoire des Etats Unis, l’histoire du peuple américain, l’histoire du folk américain.
Dans cette même envie de conter, de partager, le duo raconte ces histoires à lui, petites ou grandes, tristes ou gaies, vécues ou rêvées. Quand on écoute leur musique ça sent la terre, ça sent le coton et ça sent le whisky...

the”What the Folk” duet have been raised in 2009. After more than 150 shows in France and abroad and a 3 week tour in the USA in 2011, the first album “Living Roots” have been welcomed by all French medias (Rock&Folk, Blues&Co,…) and abroad (the Detroit Daily Tribune)
What the Folk is fixing to book up its second album “Wide Open” that might be in stores by next June 2013.
Why can we define What The Folk Music as American Folk Music ?
As a wide term definition, the answer is in their new album title, called “Wide Open” (available from June 2013)
All along that album, many styles have been approached such as Country, Gospel, Blues, Bluegrass and so on… all those styles of music belong to the United States history, the American people history, the American Folk Music history.
In that desire of telling and sharing, the band tell its own stories, small or big, sad or happy, real or dreamed.
What the Folk music smells the land ground, smells the cotton, smells the whiskey…
